I spent some time today doing some more digging for information for the historical YA novel in verse I am working on. I feel like I've developed a solid narrative voice, but I am having trouble bridging the "normal" part of the narrative, while she is growing up, with the "discovery" part, where she is involved in the excavation of an ancient tomb. I have all the dates and facts to plug in, and I even have a contact with the family of my protagonist (a real figure who I am fictionalizing), but right now the book has two distinct chunks.
I need to make it seamless.
