A few weeks ago, I met authors Clay and Susan Griffith at the release party for Issue 4 of Bull Spec. They read an excerpt from their new novel, "The Greyfriar: Vampire Empire 1", which I purchased and finally read.
Wow. I don't usually like vampire lit, but this is something else. With steampunk flavor, a spunky heroine, and a romantically difficult hero, I was hooked. Although not billed as YA, I think it's totally appropriate for high school readers (in fact, when I finished it, I sent our copy to my husband's classroom.) It's a bit gory for my tastes, but the characters made it worth the blood and guts. In fact, I can't wait to read the sequel, and I rarely make the time to read more than the first book of any given series. It's a fast read, too, and a great escape.
Just thought you'd like to know. :)
